Have you ever pondered happiness (and its opposite)? What it is that really makes or breaks it?

Chances are that we don't really question happiness - there's no need to as long as we are happy, is there?

It's when we're unhappy that the need to think about it may arise, and possibly, with the right kind of thinking and understanding, a change in the positive direction may occur. That's where this nugget could maybe serve you.

You see, contrary to popular belief it's not people, situations or conditions that make you unhappy. It's your thoughts about those people/ situations/ conditions that make you unhappy. Think about it and you'll see this is so true, and knowing it gives you a lot more power over your state of happiness.

Your thoughts are in fact the way you interpret life's occurrences. They are your mental judgements, and those mental judgements are very much conditioned.

Our Reclaim Your Life Nuggets will always be very much intertwined, and here a reference to our Issue #004 would complement - expanding on the judgements issue, and you are encouraged to go back and read it in this context (click here).

So those conditioned mental judgements that are our thoughts - are in fact no more than a habit, and becoming aware of it gives us the power to change a habit. Do you think this perspective might be of value to you when you feel unhappy?

"Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." ~ Abraham Lincoln

And while we're pondering how our thoughts are what really controls our happiness, another thing to ponder is that unhappiness cannot really exist in the 'here and now' (and yes - we also talked about the 'here and now' on our Issue #003) so think about it...

... stay tuned for our next Reclaim Your Life Nugget and remember...
